CJP Continues Protest After Pradhan’s Exit
Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as Union Education Minister sparked celebrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, but the Cockroach Janta Party says its protest will continue. Founder Abhijeet Dipke called it a win for peaceful pressure, but said key demands remain. The group now seeks compensation for NEET-affected families and action against police.
CJP Celebrates Pradhan’s Resignation
People were really happy, at the protest site when Pradhan said he was quitting his job to PM Modi on July 25 2026. The supporters of the NEET-UG protests were giving each sweets and singing songs that they love. They were also shouting slogans together. Dipke said this shows that when people come together they have a lot of power. He said getting rid of Pradhan was a part of the NEET-UG protests.. He also said that the NEET-UG protests are not finished yet.
What Are CJP’s Remaining Demands?
After Pradhan’s resignation, Dipke outlined two remaining demands. First, ₹1 crore compensation for each family of a student who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET paper-leak controversy.
Second, action against police officers accused of misconduct and violence during the July 20 march towards Parliament, with CJP alleging baton use and excessive force. Dipke said protesters will not leave Jantar Mantar until both demands are met immediately. CJP leaders also seek written commitments rather than verbal assurances from earlier negotiations.
Why Does CJP Want Written Assurance?
Before Pradhan resigned the Chief Justice of Pakistan held talks with Union ministers. The government said they would support the Chief Justice of Pakistan with compensation, protection and they would withdraw the cases against the Chief Justice of Pakistan but the Chief Justice of Pakistan wanted the government to make these commitments in writing.
After Pradhan resigned the Chief Justice of Pakistan refused to end the protest because the government only made promises.
The spokesperson, for the Chief Justice of Pakistan said they would only go home if the government accepted their demands in writing and the spokesperson also said they would ask for permission to hold a candle march for the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Police Action Is the New Major Flashpoint
The police did some things during the march to Parliament on July 20 that made things worse for the CJP protest. People are saying the police used batons and tear gas and some students got hurt. The CJP wants the police to say sorry find out which officers did these things and punish them. They also want the police to take back the cases they filed against people.
Dipke said that the police will take action against the officers who did wrong. There were a lot of police officers over Delhi when people were protesting and the authorities put many restrictions in place all, over the country. The CJP protest is still going on. The police are watching everything closely.
The Movement Is Now Bigger Than One Minister
CJP first gained attention demanding Pradhan’s removal over the NEET paper leak. The movement later broadened to exam reform, unemployment, police conduct and accountability, drawing nationwide participation. His resignation removes a key target but not deeper issues. Questions remain on exam security, NTA role and student support. CJP seeks reform.

The next step will depend on the government’s written response.
CJP leaders have said they are prepared to continue negotiations, but the protest will remain active until the remaining demands are formally accepted.
The Centre may agree to compensation, announce an inquiry into police conduct or negotiate the amount and conditions of relief. It may also continue discussions over the withdrawal of legal cases against peaceful protesters.
A nationwide candle march could become the movement’s next major public event if permission is granted.
The tone at Jantar Mantar may have become celebratory after Pradhan’s resignation, but CJP’s message remains firm: the movement considers the resignation a beginning rather than a final settlement.
