Prahaar Release Update
Rajkummar Rao is taking on another real-life role, in Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story, a Hindi courtroom drama based on the life of a famous public prosecutor named Ujjwal Nikam. The movie shows the path of Ujjwal Nikam.
The first preview has already shown viewers how Rao changes and the strict legal environment in the movie. But now there is doubt, about when it will come out in theaters so it’s important to tell news from later stories. Here is what has actually been confirmed about the movie.
What Is Prahaar About?
Prahaar is inspired by the life and work of Ujjwal Nikam, who’s one of the best special public prosecutors in India. The life of Ujjwal Nikam and his work are what inspired Prahaar. Prahaar is, about the life and work of Ujjwal Nikam.
The film focuses on major legal battles associated with Nikam’s career. The teaser places particular attention on the court proceedings following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab.

Prahaar Release Date Explained
Maddock Films first said that Prahaar would be in theaters, on August 7 2026. The production company kept that date when it shared the teaser in June.
However, reports published in late July stated that the planned August 7 release had been postponed. Hindustan Times, NDTV and other publications reported that the makers were considering a different theatrical window. The reports cited the crowded film-release calendar as a reason for the change.
Has a New Prahaar Release Date Been Announced?
At the time I am writing this there is no theatrical release date that has been officially confirmed by Maddock Films, in the official material I have checked.
This is a difference because some movie-ticket and entertainment pages still show August 7 but later industry reports say the movie has been moved from that date.
Prahaar Teaser Reveals Courtroom Story
The teaser is the look at the film that we have seen so far. It shows us Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam. The Mumbai attacks and the legal proceedings that followed are the focus of the film. The teaser does not tell us the story of the film. Instead it gives us an idea of the tone of the film and the courtroom setting of the film. The film is, about the Mumbai attacks and the teaser sets the tone for this.
Is Prahaar Coming to OTT?
Far nobody has said when this movie will be available, on a streaming service. We should not believe any rumors about which streaming service will have it or when it will be available until Maddock Films or the streaming service itself tells us.
What We Know So Far
Prahaar has a lot of search interest because it brings together Rajkummar Rao, a story from real life and one of the most talked about criminal trials, in India.
The people in the film the director, the teaser and the subject of the film are all set. The only big thing that we do not know for sure now is when the film will be shown in theaters. They said it would be August 7 at first. Then we heard it might be later. We are still waiting to find out the date, for the film in theaters.
